This desert residence emphasizes the contrast between the rawness of the
native desert and the refined qualities of the architecture. A sequence
from rough to refined moves through the desert, first to a formal, enclosed
entry court with stone paving, a grove of trees and reflecting pool. A
series of courts follow - for dining, lounging, yoga and other uses. These
have been seamlessly integrated into the building design, each carefully
considered to optimize privacy, light qualities, and views of nearby mountains.
