Big Sky Residence

This family ski house is located at nearly 9,000’ elevation in the Yellowstone Club at Big Sky Resort just west of Bozeman, Montana. The four-acre site is a harsh alpine landscape characterized by rolling alpine meadows, alpine firs, and magnificent views to distant peaks. Linear site walls engage the existing topography, grounding the house to the steep slopes and creating level terraces for parking, eating and relaxing. Close collaboration with the architect enabled a strong continuity of spatial organization and materiality between interior and exterior spaces, effectively blurring the boundaries between inside and out.
