Al Ain Oasis Cultural Quarter

MBLA collaborated with Machado and Silvetti Associates and an international team of designers to create a significant civic space and park associated with a proposed national museum and visitor center.  Part of the newly planned Al Ain Cultural Campus, the proposed buildings and park system are located along the margin of Al Ain’s famed date palm oasis, establishing a strong sequence of urban spaces along a central promenade that links two historic forts, the museum and visitor center, and forthcoming hotels, shopping and other new facilities. In addition to connecting cultural and retail activities, the diverse series of spaces along the promenade will offer opportunities for gathering, rest and reflection. Outside of the activity zone, a substantial area will be reclaimed as indigenous desert vegetation.
