Hassayampa Academic Village at Arizona State University
Tempe, Arizona
In this vibrant residential precinct of campus, which houses 2,000 first year students, multi-story residence halls enclose courtyards to create both private and shared spaces. Each courtyard is characterized by unique groupings of native plantings, paving, and benches. The custom benches are strategically configured to address issues of privacy and security for the residents, while offering new students and visitors ample space for outdoor studying and socializing. A tree-lined pedestrian mall links the residence halls and classrooms to larger gathering spaces, transportation nodes and important campus axes. Hassayampa Academic Village residences have earned LEED silver certification.
