MBLA worked closely with the owners of this residence to redefine the existing landscape of their beloved 150-year-old home set on a two lot property in Newton, Massachusetts. The redesign of the grounds is based on a modern concept of precisely crafted, clean and defined spaces. The design features a two level stone terrace, a water feature, a flat lawn panel outlined by a stonedust path, a full perimeter fence and new plantings around existing historic beech trees. The view from the house highlights a linear perrenial garden in front of an oak grove. The formal relationship between the house and the carefully sculpted lawn allows for several distinct areas for relaxation and entertaining.
