MBLA teamed with SOM to develop a master plan for this expansive, architecturally diverse 150-year old campus. A rigorous evaluation of current open space uses, pedestrian movement, and past development trends informed a rethinking of campus organization and the development of guidelines for reuse and new development. Conceptual proposals for long- and short-term projects were driven by the nearly constant, year-round movement of students throughout the campus. The complex ecology of the Turkey River, which runs though the center of the campus, was also emphasized in the master plan.
